    Afganistan's Poppy Crop

By destroying Afghanistan’s poppy crops the United States is destroying an opportunity to be the Afghan farmer's best friend and destroying a commodity that is used in the US.

What if the USA bought the poppies from the farmers at a slightly higher spot market price and processed them for our own medical use. Opiates are used for pain control in numerous forms legally throughout the world and in the US.

If we paid slightly more than the Afghani farmer is currently getting we will not only win the hearts of the Afghanis but, in the long and short of it we will be saving millions of dollars and the cost of lives in what we are spending to eradicate it plus we will be cutting off the root of the Taliban’s money supply.

I feel this is a win win win proposal.
