    How our garden grows

Here are some shots of what we are doing to fight high food prices. We grow as much as we can ourselves. We know we are lucky to have the area and the ability to do so. See http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-14979 . We home can or freeze as much as possible. This year we are growing (deep breath ala Jim Carey) Green beans, green peas, corn, 2 types of tomatoes, 6 types of peppers, cantaloupe, watermelon, cucumbers and squash. Total cost of garden this year, including gas for the tiller, is less than $20. See how far that same $20 gets you in the produce section at the grocery store. We don't do it because we love the 90+ weather, (both the heat and the humidity) or the lovely flies, gnats and various stinging insects. We do it for the joy of watching the plants grow and our food bill shrink.
