Save Coney Island Brooklyn Rally
Fun people from Coney Island gathered on the steps of Brooklyn's Borough Hall on Sunday July 26th for a serious cause: to call for the New York City counci to fix the existing re-developement plan for Coney.
The small but vocal group included business leaders, residents, an operator of the famous Cyclone rollercoaster and the "mayor" of Coney Island and founder of the Mermaid Parade, Dick Zigun. (pic 4)
The city council is scheduled to vote this Wednesday on a plan that restricts the amusement areas and gives way to high-rise developement, threatening the historic area's atmosphere and character.
Some of the signs say it all.
