Discrimination in America: How a call for help can turn into a nightmare

My entire family was arrested and taken to the county jail from my parents' 10 acre farm last Saturday morning.  I am no prominent Harvard professor, simply a young first generation Russian immigrant here on refugee status.  My siblings and I are several of the very few in the Russian community of Salem Oregon that pursued a higher education; I my self am a PhD student at Oregon State University studying Chemical Engineering.  I work full time on campus as a researcher and soon will be taking on another job as a full time father to a baby girl.  The truth is I am absolutely outraged at what my entire family was put through, everyone starting from my father to my little sister (17).  Everyone was assaulted, some of us more so than others, including my wife who is 6 months pregnant.  It started from a 911 call for help, my mother had requested an ambulance and a total of about 10+ police vehicles arrived.  It ended with our release 6-7 hours later and both felony and misdemeanor charges adding up to an average of 20k each.  None of which were committed from a logical standpoint.  I am utterly appalled at the unprofessionalism demonstrated by the public servants that night, and am absolutely frightened for other families that have yet to be abused by these people.  As far as I can tell the only thing done by my family that may have triggered the chaotic behavior is when we spoke our native language, Russian, to one another.  The discrimination then became blatantly obvious and terrifying.  They had no control over what they did to us; it seemed like a power trip.  I have been unable to work due to my injuries and stressful concerns for my wife and unborn child; the same stress has been inflicted upon the rest of my family members.  I am afraid even of what happens next. Thank you so much for reading and taking an interest.  I am trying to remain hopeful that our voices will be heard and America will deliver justice to my family and the many others who have been served injustice, and the Love that we should cherish for one another will once again be the driving force in our community.
