    History in the making

    A Dream Come True

This is far more than historic, it is paradigm changing. You have to know people who were born in the segregated South to really understand this. People who could not try on shoes in shoe stores so they had to trace their shoes on cardboard so they wouldn't defile the shoes. To really understand what this means you have to consider it in the background of this sick country.

You cannot imagine how many African American children were told all of their lives the could not be President. Now we all know that was a lie. Actually I was never told that but clearly history showed that only Caucasian males were President. They wrote all the laws, interpreted them, and enforced them. They wrote, interpreted and enforced laws that codified racism and discrimination. Now we are truly a part of the process.

Many Americans cannot understand this feeling I have right now. You have to walk a while in my shoes. No I was not born in segregated America but when you walk into a Federal Court room against a defendant that is 4 months in default and are denied the default, you understand what racism is. I do. So to see Barack Obama win this nomination is a dream cone true. He will be our next President. He will be the leader of this country and my eyes fill with tears and my heart thumps a little harder.

It is that profound. It is that real. My cousin vows to take her children and her grandchildren on the campaign trail all the way to Denver. It is empowering. It is historic. It is a dream come true and I love it in every cell of my body. He won running a clean campaign with the right people supporting him. Now it is on to the Presidency and I am happier than happy. It is truly a Dream Come True!
