Los Angeles City Council Passes Resolution Calling Congress to Enact Health Care Reform!
On Wednesday August 5, the Los Angeles City Council unanimously passed a resolution, introduced by Council Member Eric Garcetti, supporting the Obama Administrations' Health Care Reform Principals, and encouraged Congress to enact them immediately.
LA will become one of, if not the first City Council to do so. Similar resolutions are reported as being considered by numerous other cities in the U.S.
The following is the actual text of the Resolution:
...."Therefore, Be It Resolved, with the concurrence of the Mayor, that by the adoption of this Resolution, the City of Los Angeles hereby includes in its 2009-2010 Federal Legislative Program support for the immediate enactment of the Administration's health care reform principles."
Afterwards Councilman Garcetti escorted several staffers and volunteers from Organizing For America, including those who shared their health care stories with the City Council, into the press room for photos.
