This iReport is part of an assignment:
Health care town halls |
On the Fourth of July, Health Care, and Eric De La Cruz
The Expert on Twitter was involved in the efforts to save the life of a young man, Eric de la Cruz. Eric needed a heart transplant. The Twitter community rallied around him and his Sister Veronica. Aided by the generosity of Trent Reznor or Nine Inch Nails, enough money was raised to pay for his transplant.
Unfortunately, the help came two years too late.
On July 4, 2009, Eric de la Cruz died.
If we had a health care system that considered people with as much passion as it considers profits, Eric would be alive today.
