Giant Crow Sculptures Cause Motorists to Rubberneck

We were traveling back from Canada when we saw (again) these giant crows sculpted by local artist, William L. Salisbury.

My boys insisted I pulled over on Route 81 in Northern NY. Of course, they had to have some fun. David's being eaten and Daniel is checking out the inner workings of a steel crow.

He's my mechanic and David's the entertainer.  A tourist shot the photo of the 3 of us. Thought I'd share.

" Sculptures on their own make no impression, they are

simply a cluster of atoms in the forest of cosmic dust.

Blah, blah, blah.  Then the thing happens that gives

them  life.  We acknowledge them by seeing, sensing,

smelling, discovering.   We see a thing and it becomes

a part of us, we hear a sound because it is in us.  The Crow's from afar, becomes something in us.

A work of art, a song, dance, chant, birth, picture, anything

we become aware of, exists through awareness."

    William Salisbury
