Healthcare vs Hospital vs Phyllis Montana-Leblanc vs New Orleans...
I've taken a chance and viewed some of the town hall meetings going on in country who are against a bill that is in the process of being passed. I watch with severe interest the opposing crowds of people. Then I watch experts attempt to breakdown both sides of what is going on. It is very confusing trying to understand the screamers and yellers of opposition. I want to understand what they are opposing and why. I also am understanding President Obama more because I can hear him more clearly. All the time I'm watching both sides explain and scream I am still in awe of not even having a hospital in my living area of New Orleans East or East New Orleans, Post-Katrina. I am satisfied with my healthcare plan and my only problem currently is that I have to drive to the other side of town to an appointment. Now, if I have an emergency and need to be taken to an emergency room, I can just forget about survival is time is what is on my side. The hospital is Methodist Hospital that received little damage during Hurricane Katrina. Four years later and nothing but promises have been spewed from the mouths of city representatives with an additional promise of "in two more years" we will have an emergency room for the thousands of residents who live in this area. Already, mixed income and low income housing has all but been abolished in this area. As well as the many public schools that have not been reopened or are slated to be demolished. All the while I'm thinking about how important this healthcare issue is to me and so many other people, I'm trying to figure out how to convey how important it is for my living area to have a regular hospital and not have to wait 7 whole years for one. What drastic measures must one go to in order to achieve something that should already be here. I am a registered voter. I've worked since 16 years old. Never been to jail. Quit smoking recently and drinking. Future is looking very bright. My husband and I are homeowners and we pay our bills. So, I'm stuck with the question of how do I get people to see that New Orleans is not back in shape? What do I need to do to get a hospital? Hurricane Katrina is not over for New Orleans. People are still suffering badly. This is not asking for a handout. My husband and I both work. WHY IS THERE NO HOSPITAL IN NEW ORLEANS EAST? WHERE IS THE MONEY THAT WAS GIVEN FOR THIS HOSPITAL? WHY AREN'T THE ONES IN CHARGE OF THIS KATRINA RELIEF MONEY BEING INVESTIGATED? NEW ORLEANS NEEDS CNN TO COME DOWN HERE AND SHINE THE CAMERAS ON THE RECOVERY IN THE NEIGHBORHOODS WHO DIDN'T GET HELP. PRESIDENT OBAMA NEEDS TO DROP IN AND SAY HELLO, HOW CAN I HELP. THAT IS WHAT IS IMPORTANT TO ME. DO I WANT TO HELP THE UNINSURED? YES, I DO. WOULD IT BOTHER ME TO PAY AN INCREASE IN TAXES TO HELP THE UNINSURED? NO, IT WOULD NOT. WE HAVE FORGOTTEN THE PEOPLE IN OUR DIVISIVE THINKING AND THERE ARE INSTIGATORS OF HATRED AND MAY GOD CHANGE THEIR HEARTS AND STOP THE HATE. PEOPLE ARE CONFUSED AND FIGHTING AGAINST THOSE WHO WANT TO CHANGE FOR THE BETTER. NO, WE MAY NOT ALL AGREE, BUT I CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU WANT IF YOU ARE SCREAMING, YELLING AND SPITTING IN MY FACE AND CAN'T EXPLAIN INTELLECTUALLY WHAT YOU WANT. THESE TOWN HALL MEETINGS ARE AN EXACT REPLICA OF THOSE HELD BY SEN. JOHN MCCAIN AND GOV. PALIN. FRIGHTENING. I THINK WE NEED MORE FOCUS ON THESE MILITIA GROUP CELLS WHO ARE AGAINST UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT. AMERICA OR NOT? WE NEED TO CHOOSE WHO WE ARE REALLY STANDING FOR AND ADMIT IT.
