Obama's retreat on health care - i take no satisfaction in this

Over the weekend President Obama shit-canned the central premise of obamacare - the giant new bureaucracy to "reduce costs and improve quality"

Obama now say that new "non profit cooperatives" can get the job done.   Really, I'm not making this up.

Obama's retreat shows either that he doesn't understand the problems with his proposal, or that he's simply the mouthpiece for advisor Emmanual Rahm (as many newspapers are now alledging.  even the new york times has turn on rahm, and says he has too much power and uses it recklessly: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/16/us/politics/16emanuel.html?hp)

The main problem with obama care is that a detailed financial analysis by the Congressional Budget Office show that legislation seriously understates costs while providing no evidence that outcomes will improve - our lifespan will not be increased by nationalizing health care, but our costs will.

Lets all take a deep breath.  People do need more choices and options in health care.   Let's wait to see what the Congressional Budget Office has to say about "non profit cooperatives" before applauding or trashing them.

By the way, while we're waiting, can someone please use google and see how many miracle drugs, or surgical advances came about through the research of non-profit cooperatives?

hey - there's no harm in asking, is there?
