This iReport is part of an assignment:
Calling all whale watchers |
Spring 2008 Whales off Provincetown
I spent an entire day aboard one of the Dolphin Fleet boats in early May to do background research for a series of travel articles I will be doing and also prepare for an upcoming trip to Australia.
We saw a total of 33 humpbacks that day, including several named whales. Black Hole and Cygnus were bubble-net feeding together for quite a while. The seagulls were very interestedbut would occasionally restas three of them on Cygnus' nose. We also saw Thumper, Draco and a whale named Pipette kept sailing by with he flipper in the air.
I can't wait to go out again--will try from Cape Ann this time. Any suggestions on which boat?
