My Uncle Died On Pan Am 103 And al-Megrahi, The Murderer of 270 People Walks Free?
My uncle died on Pan Am 103 when it was blown up on December 21, 1988 over Lockerbie, Scotland. The release of Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi today on "compassionate grounds" because he is dying of prostate cancer is absolutely disgusting and infuriating.
This man was convicted 8 years ago of murdering 270 people. And today, I saw him leave prison and fly on Momar al-Ghadafi's private jet back to Libya. So that he can spend his last days with his family. This is disturbing on an emotional level, on a political level because of the political reasons for his release, and on a justice level. Frankly, I don't believe a Scottish judge has the right to essentially forgive al-Megrahi, a man who never showed any compassion for his deeds. If al-Megrahi was to be released, it should have been up to the families to approve such a measure. The majority of families do not want to see this murderer allowed the chance to say goodbye to his loved ones when he afforded no such chance to our beloved.
