The Facts About Worldwide Health Care Spending
Health Care in America » What other countries spend on health care
http://www.cnn.com/interactive/2009/08/health/map.health.global/index.html
I summerized the stats of the USA and the "Disastrous" Public Health Care systems of Australia, Canada & England...and for good measure...Cuba
In short...the USA pays more than every country in the world and at least as far as these most often cited examples, provides worse overall health care.
USA
Govt % of HC Spending - 45.8
Govt HC Spending per capita - $3074
Total HC Spending per capita -$6714
Infant Mortality per 1000 Births - 7
Life Expectancy at Birth - 78
Australia
Govt % of HC Spending - 67.2
Govt HC Spending per capita - $2227
Total HC Spending per capita -$3316
Infant Mortality per 1000 Births -5
Life Expectancy at Birth - 82
Canada
Govt % of HC Spending - 70.4
Govt HC Spending per capita - $2754
Total HC Spending per capita -$3912
Infant Mortality per 1000 Births -5
Life Expectancy at Birth - 81
England
Govt % of HC Spending - 87.4
Govt HC Spending per capita - $2939
Total HC Spending per capita -$3361
Infant Mortality per 1000 Births - 5
Life Expectancy at Birth -79
Cuba

Total HC Spending per capita -$355
Infant Mortality per 1000 Births -5

I don't know what else can be said. I agree with Barney Frank in that arguing with the lies and misinformation presented by the Republicans and their out of mind supporters makes as much sense as arguing with a piece of furniture.
