SMOKE FROM NC FIRE COMING INTO VIRGINIA

A fire that broke out Sunday in Washington County, North Carolina, has burned down around 2,200 acres of forrest, and is threatening neighborhoods. As a result several hundred have been evacuated from their homes. While Virginia Beach is around 70 miles north of where the fire started last Sunday, smoke has made its way to the area of southeastern, Virginia, and is causing alot of respiratory problems because it's becoming more difficult to breathe. Even here, 70 minutes north of the fire, the smell of smoke is everywhere, and there is a thick haze at this time as well that is obscuring the sun to a degree. The fire has doubled in size over the past few days, and authorities stated that the fire may last for more than a month, until it can be put out.

UPDATE: The fire took a huge turn for the worse yesterday in Washington County, North Carolina, as now, 29,000 acres have been burned. The fire is currently heading towards several neighborhoods in the area, and the smoke from the huge fire has now reached as far north as Richmond, Virginia. The fire is around %30 contained at this time, however, officials still expected the fire not to be fully put out for a few weeks, as the next few days of high temperatures approaching 100 and very little rainfall, will only hamper efforts.
