    Remembering Ted Kennedy

    A Great Public Servant

I met Sen. Kennedy in December 2007. As a political nerd, I've looked up to him for the majority of my adult life, so when I heard he was having a book signing at the Kennedy Center, I knew I had to go. He was gracious and kind, laughing and joking with all of the people who'd come to see him. When I met him, I was overwhelmed with emotion and started gushing -- thanking the Senator for his lifetime of public service and telling him that he's the reason I studied political science. He just smiled modestly, touched my arm and thanked me, and told me to keep on. I'll never forget that twinkle in his eye.
