Remembering Ted Kennedy |
Last Thoughts On Ted Kennedy
Ted Kennedy's life was full of contradiction, irony, self-destruction, productivity, legislative success, social justice, and common decency. His life was a jumble of high achievements, personal tragedy, and embarrasing flaws of character.
In commemorating his passing, I aim to note the good and bad in the man in an effort to point out that every human life is defined by shades of grey and that the human condition is neither purely good nor purely evil. Ted Kennedy was in many ways his own worst enemy, but to judge him on the basis of his flaws alone would be to believe that no one ever is allowed to redeem himself or herself with time.
