This iReport is part of an assignment:
Remembering Ted Kennedy |
I remember Ted
About 40 years ago my dad was the representive for the local Dental convention. I can remember my dad telling his friends how he and Ted Kennedy got in a shouting match about socialized medicine. Ted Kennedy for, my dad against. Today I am hearing more and more doctors and nurses saying it's time for single payer universal health care. They are sick of being asked every year by the insurance companies to work for less. They are sick and tired of being told by insurance companies what procedures they can perform and what medicines they can prescribe. More and more doctors and nurses want to spend thier time healing people, not filling out forms. Ted Kennedy was way ahead of his time. I wonder how many lives and how much treasure could have been saved, if Ted Kennedy got his way 40 years ago. I wonder how long it will take for the rest of us to catch up to Ted Kennedy.
