    NEIGHBORHOODS AFTER HURRICANE KATRINA.

This neighborhood had five to eight feet of water after hurricane Katrina. 90% of the homes are back. This neighborhood is located in New Orleans East. There are still some struggles. The hospital is still not back but in the works. Our library will be started soon. We are still trying to get businesses to come back. Walmart wants us to beg them to come back.

Several people have started their own restaurants because we are the only area that flooded that is having this problem. They are small though. We found out our mayor was holding back permits for people who did want to come in our area. We have a new theme park coming - . Nickelodeon who will be taking over Six Flags.

We have no restaurants that are well known like "Applebees, Chilis' etc.  Even Sam's club did not come back but take our money in Jefferson parish of La. so our tax dollars are helping them grow.

Starbucks has turned us down yet on Veterans in Metarie La, there are three located on one street.  So I asked myself "Well maybe it's because we flooded and Metairie was not as badly affected as us. So I went to another part of New Orleans called "Lakeview"  Yes there goes a brand new Starbucks with hurricane Katrina's name engraved on the front!  I think I'll do a report on that next.
