    Aggression

Typically in a pee wee soccer game you will see a clump of youngsters huddled around a soccer ball until somebody boots it out of the circle and the clump moves to another spot in the field while the players kick with all their might aimlessly at the ball until again it flies to another spot in the field. Eventually you may see a goal scored in an unattended goal box. This particular game was not at all that scenario. In this game there were two players, #5 green & #6 pink, who dominated the ball faking each other out with footwork worthy of many high school aged players. The competition escalated to the point at which parents and coaches were spellbound by the action of the two athletes trying to outdo each other and take the ball home for the money.

I grew up playing soccer, and I refereed the pee wees back in the day. But I have never seen this level of playing until now. I have to say that I cannot wait until next season to see these two players go head to head once more. The sight of elbows and crowding, darting and manipulation of the ball could only be inspired by true competition and hunger for victory. Although the game remained civil and nobody was injured, spectators gasped, cheered, and laughed unable to take their eyes off of the aggressive duo.

You could see the determination and focus in their every move. The energy level was so high in this season ending game that even the feeling of despair over the season ending was overshadowed by sheer unadulterated satisfaction.
