This iReport is part of an assignment:
Rebuilding the Gulf Coast |
Mississippi Gulf Coast
I am so tired of the news only talking about New Orleans when reporting on Katrina! HELLO! Katrina did not hit NOLA; the levees broke after the hurricane. Why do you never report about the entire coast of Mississippi? We were completely wiped out from state line to state line. Is it because we recovered so quickly? Right after the hurricane the news was all over our state, now you hear nothing about how we suffered here, how the coast was completely destroyed, how the water from the gulf came in and took everything back into the deeps of the water. We are still in recovering mode, but we are strong and came together because we love our state and the people here. I am 48 years old and moved from Southern California to Ocean Springs, MS in February of 05. Never in my life have I witnessed such devastation and the amazing resilience of the people here in Mississippi. I worked for the SBA after the hurricane and heard thousands of the saddest stories from the people here on the MS Gulf Coast. Report the truth!
