    Your World War II stories

Germans worked with Poles during the WWII occupation.

This is a story I heard from my Grandmother and my Mother many times. My Grandfater was a good friend with his sister's husband Baron von Puglis who had estate in Prussia. During the WWII my gradfather was a Polish Home Army officer and the Baron who was at that time an officer in Wehrmacht were living in Warsaw. Both of them would go outside  Warsaw to pick up gold dropped by the British planes at night and go throught all the checkpoints to Marszalkowska Street were they would distribute all the gold to other Home Army members. My gradfather spoke fluent German so it was him and his German friend who would do these type of assigments together. Saddly Baron von Puglis was killed by a bomb during Warsaw Uprising in 1944.

Ps:The image is of my Grandfather and the Baron, taken before WWII.
