Tribute to Christian Poveda...photojournalist executed in Salvador yesterday
Paris...This morning I had an appointment with Edouard Genestar the editor of the highly acclaimed French photography magazine Polka. The purpose of my visit was that I hoped to get his point of view on what people in journalism are referring to as the "death of photojournalism"...As it turned out, my visit resulted in this story...The Death, ..yesterday...by gang execution... of the 52 year-old photojournalist Christian Proveda..
The tragedy of his death is underscored by the irony that Mr. Proveda's photographs are featured in this month's edition of Polka magazine. The online edition can be viewed at
www.polkamagazine.com.
I took the lead photo yesterday in Pere Lachaise Cemetery with the idea, as I previously mentioned, to submit a report concerning the death of photojournalism.
The second is a photo of Christian Poveda and was supplied by Polka magazine.
The third is a video presentation by Polka editor Edouard Genestar.
The fourth is a photo taken by Mr. Poveda in Guatemala... provided by Polka Magazine and used with their permission.
Photojournalism is going through its changes but will never die as long as there are courageous people like Mr. Proveda putting their lives on the line.
"La Vida Loca"...the crazy life!!
For additional information about his death and to view his photographs I recommend:

and to see his photogrpahs I recommend you merely enter his name in whatever program you use..
Thank you.
