    Passions over health care reform

    More from cmm

    Where's the shoe?

South Carolina Rep. Joe Wilson stopped short of throwing a shoe at the President of the United States as he heckled President Obama before the world by sprewing "You LIE!"  What was that!

Here's the lesson learned:  If you don't agree with the leader of the free world, that's fine.  If you don't like his health care reform bill, that's permissible. Yet, to represent the United States Senate with such an angry, bitter, out-of-control gesture is inexcusable.  One of the things that I teach teens when they relate to authorities is that they do not have to like that figure, but respect is a must.  R-E-S-P-E-C-T is not a choice; it is mandatory and a testament to maturity.

Mr. Wilson's apology was received by the White House.  Yet, I wonder whether his colleagues will take note of what a seething disrespect produces.

On another note, I find it  interesting that the dissenters of the health care reform bill rarely offer suggestions that would improve it and thus save American lives  All I see is a lot of political jockeying and positioning for 2012, which is shameful when the lives of so many Americans hang in the balance.

Let's grow up folks.  Temper tandrums, shoe throwing, and nasty barbs only serve to deface America the Beautiful.  The same America you politicians vowed to love, honor, and respect.  Let's stop cutting off Mr. President's nose to spite America's face. Americans needs help NOW.
