This iReport is part of an assignment:
Passions over health care reform |
We say entertainers & athletes are role models...what about politicians?
Last night during the President's speech Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) shouted "You lie!" as the President claimed his plan wouldn't offer free care to illegal immigrants.
If this had been a regular session the Sergeant-at-arms would have thrown the representative out. But this was a special session so the rules allowed him to remain.
Why is it that we hold our entertainers and athletes to a higher level of accountability than our politicians? Do we not think ourselves and our politicians are "role models?"
As I think back to the behavior of some during the town hall meetings and now during the Presidential speech have our morals and conduct denigrated to the point of no return?
Think about it. This was a disrespectful act that will be played again over and over nationally and internationally.
What does this say about America?
What do you think of this story?
