Pandemonium On The Potomac? Not! Coast Guard Training Exercise Only!

To all of those that have suffered losses during 9/11, I would like to take this time to express my condolences and wish you Gods Speed in your recovery period from this tragedy.

As we remember those that perished 8 years ago, we must take into consideration that those that seek to harm us will not regard any calendar day towards this country.   Actions of a malevolent nature or unfortunate circumstance i.e., heart attack, fire, robbery or terrorist attack, have no predetermined date.

Meaning:  What ever bad can happen... will, without consideration of the day of the year.

Therefore, this retired DC Firefighter, that has spent countless days and hours in TRAINING exercises realizes that in any emergency profession, training means everything, regardless of weather conditions,  memorials or holidays.

When we have an emergency anywhere in this nation and we call for help, isn't great to know that when the Bell Sounds, those responding are ready and well Trained to do the job.

The media let this one get away!  At the fire Training Academy, we have what is called the "Christmas Tree", for it's shape.  However, when well engulfed, it gives off the kind of smoke that would create panic at Reagan Airport, because Air Traffic Controllers thought they had lost a plane to crashing.  Once informed of the situation at the Training Academy, all alerts were cancelled.  Stuff Happens!  Perhaps all involved could have better communicated on this before all Americans were put on alert.
