John Marcotte Has It Right
Marcotte is following current political trends along a logical trail. Hey, if we're going to pick and choose religious sins to haul into the political arena and to prevent society from engaging in "bad things," then why should we NOT ban divorce? It would do wonders towards clearing up the courts and correcting the ton of financial backlogs against delinquent spouses (alimony, child support, etc.).
The Bible states homosexuality as a sin, so we got Prop 8. The Bible states divorce as a sin, so why shouldn't we have a ballot for it?
Separation of church and state is a joke in America. It has been thrown out the window for decades in favor of the religious views of the majority... so, you go, Marcotte!
