Generation Islam |
American Muslim Convert in your midst....
I am an American Muslim who chose to change my religion because of my beliefs. I didnt get married and am very ashamed of how people are portraying my religion. I live this life daily and know all the things these fundamentalist are doing is wrong. However, what can one person do to stand up. No one will listen! I have tried many times to get our Community to stand together and request that we denounce these fundamental terrorists!
I believe that Muslims and our way of thinking is right on track with American Values and democracy. The problem that I see is that so many Muslims are comfortable sitting down not saying anything. While really we need to stand up and give our point of View and tell the world how much these terrorist hurt us as well.
I am concerned with the way we have been portrayed in the past years because this is from ignorance partly and is mainly our own fault. No matter the religion the way of thought or intelligence you can show the world that you arent as they think you are if you are willing to stand up and help them fight against the terrorist war. Many Muslim men have died in the American Army and are never given credit for supporting or protecting America.
I personally find it difficult because I am American Muslim Woman to defend my country when my First Amendment says I have the right to practice what religion I want and Practice it to the fullest and my own government will not let me wear hijab in my Military even tied in the back. It is an infringement upon my rights.
I hope that everyday someone else will stand up and share their thoughts. I just wish the people that stand up have enough intelligence and education to do research on our religion and ask questions before making a judgement that isnt correct.
