This iReport is part of an assignment:
Race and politics |
Book signing B & N
We are a nation at a cross road with many of us coming of age in a time of cultural, racial and ethnic diversity. Yet many are still unprepared and stuck in the past.
Within a diverse society such of ours, it does become the responsibility of parents, caring adults, educators and religious or community leaders to set the tone in race relations.
After negotiating two completely different school systems with my children I know firsthand that although race matters, it’s not always just race. However, it is true that we are comfortable with people who look like us, act like us and have the same values. In fact, it’s hard to move people from their comfort zone.
My new book Linked, ISBN # 978-0-9823077-0-0, suitable for teens and the middle grades, addresses some of the areas of concern and could become a useful tool in educating without being preachy. It would be perfect to jump start discussions on diversity and stereotyping behavior.
Linked was submitted 180 days pre-publication and was available in Atlas Books Fall catalog. The title was available to trade magazine in June, with a publication date of August 2009.
All data was submitted to R.R. Bowker. The book became commercially available through Atlas Books & Baker & Taylor distributors.
I would really appreciate if you would consider reviewing Linked. It is available from major book distributors, bookstores and online. At a recent meet the author at Barnes and Noble I sold over 24 copies.
