    NDK: Nerds conquer Denver!

San Diego and New York have their respective Comic-Cons, but Denver has NDK. The full name is Nan Desu Kan, a pun of the Japanese phrase "nan desu ka" which translates to "What is it?"

Over the course of 13 years, it has grown to become the largest animation event in Colorado and the largest pop culture convention of its kind in the entire Rocky Mountain region.

1: Jeremy Pieta, the president of NDK, provides a brief history about the convention and its rapid growth.

2: During the past weekend, the Marriott Tech Center of Denver was overrun with anime fans.

3: The attendees of NDK are not shy about decorating their hotel balconies.

4-5: A very large ratio of the fans arrive decked out as their favorite comic, anime or video game characters.

    6: There's Waldo!

7: What better place for a nice lady in spandex to pick up a fellow with abs of iron?

8: The panels are a major attraction for attendees honing their sci-fi nerd skills. (what's on the projection screen is self explanatory)

    9. A Pokémon fan's dreams are fulfilled as original Pokémon voice actress Rica Matsumoto arrives in person from Japan.

Special thanks to the staff of Nan Desu Kan. For more information about the event, please visit

Note: Some of the audio and video was recorded with an iPod Nano 5G.
