Campaign 2008 |
Thank You Hillary!
I voted for Obama. BUT, I wanted to vote for Hillary since 2003. Hints at a HRC candidacy were made since 2003 when she could have overwhelmingly beat GWB; I was one of those who supported that possibility.
Even as the primaries began, my vote was for HRC, despite being from Obama's home-town of Chicago. However, the more I listed to Obama and the more I saw the Clinton tactics, the more I leaned towards Obama. Eventually, I voted for Obama with the thought that HRC would eventually win anyway.
I can't say I'm upset that she didn't win, but what I can say is that the speech she gave on Saturday, conceding to Obama, was the Hillary I came to love, the one we all wanted to love. Admitedly, she brought me to tears; she was stoic, she was strong and she was a leader.
For those Obama fans out there who are so overwhelmingly anti-Clinton, please don't hold such a grudge. Remember, Hillary worked hard in her youth, as Obama, with grassroots organizations. Hillary is, despite what you want to believe, a Democrat, who values what embodies the Democratic party. She does deserve respect. And for the Clinton fans: it's time to come together and get behind Obama. Enough of this anger for your fellow Democrat. Voting McCain out of spite is simply non-democratic and just plain silly.
Thank you Hillary for running and for being so bold and courageous!
