The Worlds Largest Baby - Day 5 - So Close...
As day 5 comes to an end the team is so close to calling this project complete. The head has been filled with the Air Pouches from the fourth floor of the B.O.B in Grand Rapids, MI through a hole in the back of the head which allowed volunteers access. The machine which filled the Air Pouches, provided by Air Pouch of West Michigan, worked so efficiently that at one point, the room the "lilliputians" were filling from was filled from side to side and four feet high with plastic air pouches.
There was a scare today when a rectangular light fixture hanging from the ceiling fell after the wind blew and hit one of the voluteers on the head. Thankfully he reports he is doing just fine due to his head being covered.
Tommorrow will consist of the final shaping of the filling to fit the artist's vision, then the public is asked to appreciate "Le Grande Bebe." There are four days until Artprize kicks off and the voting is open. I will post the final pictures tomorrow and a general story on the contest's progress with work from other artists in the days ahead. Until then, stay tuned....
