This iReport is part of an assignment:
The Huffington Post's obvious attempt to take a position on Israel, and honest reporting!
Hope you all had a great summer, I know I did.
I'd like to take a moment to reflect on honest reporting in the media, especially when it comes to Israel.
I was reading an article on the Huffington Post, about Israel's plans to build homes for their people.
Many commentors complain about the money the US sends to Israel. Guess they don't realize that we've sent 50 Billion to Egypt since the 50's or countless funds to Gaza.
Other posters compare to Israel to Nazi Germany. Sure, no problem with their moderation, approved!
But when I post in defense of Israel- DENIED. (Finally they approve a few snippets, but not any entire discourse)
The fact is, they are trying to control the discussion with bias posts. ANTI- Israel, you're IN.
PRO-Israel- eh...not so much.
Now this is the kind of behavior I expect from the Iranian News site, presstv.com. Wish for the 2nd Holocaust, approved.
But I was quite dismayed to find it happening on the HP.
Someday I'll start my own site. Until then, realize that you're being misled.
Egypt also blockades Gaza, ne'er a word about that.
The wall that was built around Gaza was in response to relentless Suicide bombings that killed Israel's children.
"The Dolphinarium discotheque suicide bombing was a terrorist attack by the Palestinian group Hamas on June 1, 2001 in which a suicide bomber blew himself up outside a discotheque on a beachfront in Tel Aviv, Israel, killing 21 teenagers and injuring 132."
But somehow it has become an 'Apartheid Wall' How is that?
But telling Jews they can NOT live where they choose, that's NOT Apartheid, right?
The global population- 20% Muslim, >0.2% Jewish.
Who do you think is the squeaky wheel?
Demand honest reporting. Even CNN Tickers on TV say "Israeli soldiers kill 2 Palestinians" not a word about the fact that the 2 Palestinians were planting bombs as they were shot.
Keep buying into it. Israel has offered Peace to Palestine time after time, for example, the Camp David Accords of 2000. Palestine is besieged with Hamas and other groups that will stop at nothing short of Israel's destruction. That's ok if that doesn't bother you, I'm not judging that. Just try to picture what the world will be like after Israel is gone. Don't think it won't give a great boost of confidence to the likes of Ahmednijad and other tyrants bent on destroying values such as freedom of speech & religion, that US citizens most cherish.
The other pic was published in the NYTimes and it the reason this website was founded: (didn't upload)
