What if your doctor won't accept the "Public Option?"
President Obama says “You can keep your doctor.” But what if your doctor doesn’t want to keep you?
My wife has been seeing physicians at one of the largest medical providers in the Central Texas Area. Austin Diagnostic Clinic Inc. has more than a dozen locations employing doctors of many specialties. It is great to go where all your records are under on roof, so to speak. My wife has been seeing physicians at ADC for more than 25 years. Last week she received a letter from ADC stating they would no longer be accepting our insurance as payment for services. Who is our insurance company, you ask? Why it is one of the so called “public options,” TriCare. TriCare insures most all military retirees and their families and I think our Congress and Senate have Tricare. Who knows, President Obama and his family might be covered under this government plan as well.
So the President promises; “You can keep your doctor.” But if your doctor tells you he or she no longer will accept your public option insurance, you have nothing.
01 Oct 2009 - My Congressman, Lloyd Doggett replied and said there is nothing he can do to change the situation between Tricare and ADC Clinic. So 2700 military retirees and the families are without medical care after the 31st of October. Nice going ADC and Tricare.
