We all had the pleasure of meeting Wyland at the IReport get together in San Diego. Chris Morrow did a fantastic job putting together an amazing film of Wyland creating the "earth" on top of the Long Beach Convention Center.  Wyland was such a fun person to talk with, and he has an amazing sense of humor, and he is even more gorgeous in person.

But, behind every great artist, this is an even greater inspiration.  Darlene Wyland is the proud mother of this artist. Darlene also has three other sons.  She raised all four boys on her own as a single parent.  She said that Wyland has had a passion for art since he was a toddler, and no matter how she tried to convince him to try to find a job, he said no need for it, he was going to paint.  In this case. this man knew what he was talking about and has given the world such great images to enjoy.

Darlene is just as knowledgeable in the state of the world's water supply and she is often with Wyland as he creates his new works of art.  The bond between this mother and son was evident. Just watching them from a distance, I could tell he was concerned if she was okay, did she want to sit down, did she want something to drink....it was just lovely watching the bond between them.  Not only is Wyland an amazing artist, he is a loving and caring son.  Being a single mother is one of the hardest jobs in the world, but Darlene did a fantastic job of raising four talented and responsible sons.  As a single mother for years, I am totally impressed with her.

Darlene is a delight and the most charming woman.  She is totally supportive of all of her son's works with children.  Their  goal is to teach children about the ocean, and rivers and streams and how we all must work to keep our planet's water source safe.

If you ever have the opportunity to attend a Wyland event, look for the beautiful lady with the gorgeous smile, and that will be his lovely mother Darlene.  She is the epitome of a loving and supportive mother.
