This iReport is part of an assignment:
    Distracted drivers

    More from Broken

How to keep people like me, off the road.

I can honestly say, I would never text or even answer my phone while driving. I have enough problems driving without that distraction!

I stopped driving for about 8 years because I would get into accidents all the time. Even now I have an issue where I can get transfixed on a billboard. Just sort of stare at it. Until I feel the car swerve off the road. Then I am jogged back to reality.

I already know it shoulds strange. You really don't need to convince me of that.

So in general I do not drive. Unless I have to. And only short distances.

I do not know an appropriate punishment for drivers that are distracted. Fines will not make a difference for people like me.  The problem will not go away from just trying to pay better attention.

Maybe when taking a driving test, the examination should be different.  I have no problem with tests. But if they made me drive for a longer distance, and mostly at night, the would notice the problem. Then maybe they could curtail the amount of time people like me would be allowed to drive.
