Yellowstone Burns Again
Yellowstone National Park
The Arnica fire probably started September 13, 2009 by a lightning strike. By September 28, 2009 it had grown to at least 9,300 acres in size. The fire is burning on both sides of the road for about one and a half miles creating an undetermined number of hazardous snags across or near the road. Temporary road closures have been in effect over the last several days.
Images were taken from Steamboat point along the north edge Yellowstone Lake shore near Bridge Bay on September 25 and 26, 2009 by Jim Halfpenny.
