    What if we reduced obesity?

African Dance - Exercise or pure joy?

I think it is both. Walking on a treadmill is so boring!  When you dance, you don't even think about the fact that you are exercising and that's why I love it.

This is my teacher with her advanced group at a show in Frascati, Italy. (I'm just a beginner and our steps are less complicated but equally energetic.)

Currently, my job is sadly interfering with my social life/exercise, so I am not part of the group at the moment. As soon as I can, I hope to go back. I have never had so much fun exercising in my life!  I recommend it for anyone who loves life.  It is a real anti-depressant, too!

I think that schools should offer it. I hated PE as a child - It was humiliating on several levels, starting with gymsuits--thankfully long forgotten, other than by those of us who actually had to wear them. I got the only F in my entire academic career because I refused to wear a gymsuit for the first semester.

And who ever thought up tetherball (cracked a tooth), dodgeball (what were they thinking?), or "picking sides" for team sports (as if adolescence weren't full of unavoidable humiliations as it is).

Despite my own dreadful PE experience, I think it should be mandatory in all levels of school, but it should be fun so that kids grow up with a positive attitude about excercise.

I vote for African Dance as an option!
