Ondoy Aftermath
September 26th of 2009 was the most unforgettable day in my whole life, in my home town in Tanay, Rizal. this is the first time we are affected by the flash flood and we don't expect that the water on the river near on our home will overflow.
Before we evacuate, I uploaded some pictures for CNN, and when the time I finish my report for CNN I-report, using my laptop with wireless broadband connection, the water in our home was almost 5ft. high I saw some of our furnitures floating in the flood water.
The flood on our home go down after 6 hours of severe raining, and the flood left us with heavy mud almost 2ft, on the street's and inside everyone's house in our area, almost everywhere there is a sign of catastrophe and lots of mud, cleaning it will takes days, and it needs heavy equipment to clean.
And also the water supply and Electric supply was cut, we are lucky to have a 2 gallons of drinking water. until now we don't have electric supply at home. because some structure near the river fall and other electrical structure was affected.
Last Saturday September 3, 2009 the Philippine Army with heavy structure clear the muds on streets and also we personally clear the muds inside our home.
Until now there are still people missing, and as we are in the state of recovery we hear some sad stories from close relatives, about the number of deaths and casualties, and now for the last 5 days I saw some NGO giving relief goods to the most affected, some lost there homes and member of there family, We are lucky to have enough stock of food we still have home.
