    2009 Long Beach Comic Con

Last weekend the Long Beach waterfront was host to the 1st annual Long Beach Comic Con, seeking to follow in the footsteps of the long-established San Diego Comic-Con. The glass-encased Long Beach Convention Center did in fact feel like a cozier version of its larger sibling in San Diego.

Despite its smaller size, the Long Beach Comic Con still attracted an impressive lineup of industry professionals with a surprising level of unfettered access to all the attendees.

1: It's Darth Shogun and Jedi Master Hobbit.

2: Despite the gorgeous weather and surroundings, most of the comic book fans can be found inside the Long Beach Convention Center.

3: Well, the Star Wars fans are out here.

4: Will Wilson and Tone Rodriguez, the crew of Tyrese Gibson's Mayhem!, a new comic series by the Hollywood star that has been experimenting with new methods of digital distribution, such as Apple's iTunes LP.

5: Brian Pulido, the creator of Lady Death and director of the upcoming horror film The Graves.

6: Ryan Odagawa, the artist behind the online comic version of NBC's Heroes.

7-8: The Nintendo pavilion reaches out to the gamers among comic book fans.

9: There's also anime fans here.

10: Even if you don't get it, there seems to be a collector for just about everything.
