Local Laws Not Being Enforced, You Have to File a Civil Suit!
Its official, according to a email reply from the Illinois Attorney General's Office, if your local officials and police are not enforcing local and state laws, and they refuse to enforce them. You urged to cooperate with local officials, or your only other option is to file a civil lawsuit against them.
That is the State of Illinois top law enforcements advice to continued alleged violations of the Smoke-Free Illinois Act that were submitted with hard video evidence of the alleged violations. So, local restuarants and bars can openly violate this law, potentially injure and harm their patrons with second hand smoke toxins, and the State of Illinois washes its hands of enforcing the very law the State enacted to protect those very patrons.
What kind of nonsense is this. Your health and safety are being potenially harmed possibly in a State Licensed establishment, a law exists to protect you, You can be violated or potentially harmed right in front of a police officer, but the State of Illinois won't protect you by enforcing its own laws. You have file a civil lawsuit to get protection.
Whatever happened to equal protection under the law?
