    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     meatyard, aka Kim, told me she was a longtime subscriber to Gourmet who tried her hand at many of the magazine's extreme desserts -- the second photo, a croquembouche, took so long she almost missed the party she made it for. "I can say I will never attempt it again. You only need to do it once in a cooking career," she said.
