CA Delta Water for Tejon Ranch Resort?
An Oct. 5 hearing in Bakersfield, California revealed details of Governor Schwarzeneggers GEELA award winning agreement. Audubon, Sierra Club and others signed the conservation agreement with Tejon Ranch but had no idea that the only sources of water for the Tejon Mountain Village LLC development appear to be the State Water Project and the Kern Water Bank. According to a participant in the conservation agreement, data for the project now appear to import farm water transfers and subsidized drought water using last years emergency provisions. Most of the water supply appears to be paper water and the EIR shows no cumulative impacts for several neighboring emerging developments and a Native American Gambling Casino. Water analysis was controlled by the applicant, Tejon Ranch Corporation.
To obtain a DVD copy of the complete hearing go to the County of Kern, Government Television (KGOV-TV) website; the fee is twenty-five dollars.
