On June 25, 2009, the world lost two of its biggest figures.  Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, at age 50, and Farrah Fawcett, the face of the 1970's at age 62.  We certainly know that those who grew up with them were devastated or at the very least, saddened by their early passings but besides the Boomers and Gen X, another generation, Generation Y, was saddened also.  We were born between 1979 and 1994 so we range from 15 to 30 and are the predecessors to the current, Generation Z born from 1995 onwards.

I walk around my campus and hear some girls sing P.Y.T. and another wearing a Jackson tribute shirt to lunch.  The largest MJ forums in the world are filled with many in their late teens and 20's who loved the King.  My Facebook page on the day is filled with RIP Michael Jackson.

I walk by a room and see THAT poster of Farrah Fawcett hanging in all its glory and noting the high amount of comments that are said of it.  A note is left on the door, "great poster".  On Youtube, someone has posted Man of the House, the 1995 family movie with Farrah Fawcett and Chevy Chase.  The highest rated comment reads, "Farrah Fawcett RIP beautiful angel" and "God Bless Ms. Farrah. Rest in Peace."  A few of the guys joke of seeing your Playboy spread in 1995.  A Johnny Bravo episode she is featured in conjures of memories of the first time we heard her name.  On Twitter, the day after her passing, thousands of posts while we watch a reairing of Farrah's Story and most are from teenagers, many of whom cried, stating how beautiful she was.  Even on Twitter, Miley Cyrus among others, states GOD Bless Miss Fawcett.  Today, I see a young girl ask how she should dress as Farrah this Halloween.

Mike and Farrah, we weren't around in your heyday but so many of us too discovered you in certain ways and grew to admire you.  We, will carry on your legacies when the generations you first inspired cannot anymore.
