This iReport is part of an assignment:
Black in America: Hair-story |
weaves were my weakness!
Ever since i can remember i've always had short hair. My mom says even since i was a baby she would have trouble styling my hair because i would have a patch of hair one place and no hair in another place Although i grew out of that my hair never really grew any longer than to the top of my shoulder blade and for that reason i became addicted to weaves. Long weaves, short weaves, red weaves, and even purple weaves.I was willing to try almost any weave style in my hair. While sew in weaves allowed my hair to grow my quick fix glue in weaves damanged and broke my hair. I finally decided to give my real hair a breather but only to find without a weekly visit to my hair dresser it was hard to manage. After months and months my boyfriend has convinced me to go natural. I am about 3 and a half months into my transition and i cant say im loving the transition process but i love the idea of natural hair and i am really excited about it.
update- i did my big chop on 10-16-09 and i love it!
