AUTISM: SILK ROUTINE ON A AVERAGE DAY

Silk is a 21 yrs old young women who has

Autism.  She resides with her mother who is her caregiver.  Silk is incapable of dressing or doing the natural thing other people do.   Silk can be a hand full just getting her ready to attend school daily.  On a average day it could be crying, outbursts, stubbornness or sheer joy.  When it is a good day, the routine goes smooth as silk.  (Smile).  Well, when Silk show's me a emotion such as a simple smile on her face, it truly light's up my world with joy.  I know in my heart I am getting ready to have  good morning with Silk preparing her for school.  Some day's can be pure hell, nothing goes right, everything goes wrong that could go wrong.

Those are the day's you take a deep fresh, say in your mind to God, I know you got my back.  Just let get through this horrible moment's.   Silk on the other hand can be sweet as pie, wishing her to be normal like other children would be a dream come true for her.

Note: Routine is what these children operate best on, never changing if possible, because you will wish you never changed anything, it can be very bad for a caregiver.

It's hard to get them quite down, back to their comfort zone.  The best advice is to be prepare for changes, expecting any and all mood changes.  It will help you make concrete decision if you are out in the public with children like Silk.
