Travel Snapshots: Paris |
Hawaii 1977
This is a photo I took a while back. I spent a week on the Na Pali Coast on Kauai. It was a long time ago and a different kind of time.
It's an ancient area that was populated by the banished from the rest of the island. Legend goes when a person committed a capital offense, the individual was given a head start and had to run to the Kalalau Valley along a steep cliffside trail. If the others from the island caught up to you they would throw you into the sea. If you made it to the valley, you could live there forever, but you could never come back. Their burial grounds alone was an experience of a life time and can no longer be approached.
I camped in a cave and wandered the ruins.
Side note, it's very close to where the tv series Lost is filmed
