    Palestine Homeland in SecondLife

World Peace is all the rage in Second Life as avid SL activists take on human rights causes such as Palestine, Afghanistan, and Iran. Who does not want peaceful and happy lives for the citizens of these beleaguered states? One major thing that unites all these regions is a strong sense of nationhood, but the predominant trend in governance is heavy handed and corrupt, with war criminals on all sides of the conflicts running rampant in their societies. Another unifying theme is Women's Rights. When women have equal rights there shall be peace. Pretty much everyone agrees. See my related story on Afghan SL Peace for more on this: http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-330829

SL citizen Abhishekam Jawetz has had enough. He is creating a Palestinian Homeland in Second Life, a model community celebrating the rights of ordinary people to live peaceful and happy lives in spite the heavy handed governance, rampant corruption, and equally malicious terrorist threats to the people. The stakeholders in war and suffering have fought for many decades to keep the status quo to keep people in refugee concentration camps, and to deprive the children of their rights to happy, productive futures by constantly indoctrinating them through the school system and media into the politics of hate and resentment throughout their lifetimes.

On Friday, October 16, 2009, Shannon Oherlihy (Picture 2) played a benefit concert in Second Life for Palestinian Homeland in SL. Attending in support, SL citizens included: Erin Davi, Any Gynoid, Sandy Beachey, Maurice Mistwallow, Susan Suppenkraut, Vitamen Hax, Lucien Weston, Miyako Akina, and Abhishekam Jawetz.

I enjoyed taking pictures at the Palestinian Homeland in SL event, the people were very photogenic! Picture 1 rocks! Yay! Aren't they yummy? On my left is Vitamen Hax and my right is Abhishekam Jawetz. Picture 2 is Shannon Oherlihy. Picture 3 is Miyako Akina from the HOSOI Okiya and Ochaya - Geisha training and tea room. In Picture 4 we have Maurice Mistwallow, Susan Suppenkraut, Miyako, Vitamen and Ashish. Picture 5 is the stunning avi of Erin Davi. Picture 6 is sultry lady Sandy Beachey. Picture 7 is Maurice Mistwallow close up! Picture 8 portrays the cheerful looks of Susan Suppenkraut. Picture 9 is Lucien Weston. Picture 10 is event host and founder of Palestinian Homeland in SL... Abhishekam Jawetz.

In his own words, Palestinian Homeland in SL Founder, Abhishekam Jawetz explains:
It is my sincere hope that we can set aside our differences in favor of a far greater good. I am likely to be in a position to be able to purchase a SIM before the end of the year, and would like to help establish the SL Palestinian Homeland. It is on advice from your compatriot Demure that you receive this note.
Regardless of how our personal interactions went, I still learned alot. Part of what I learned was compassion for the Palestinian situation. Seeing as someone I loved had been grievously injured in this conflict, it brought the plight of the Palestinian people close to my heart. So it is not in some misplaced hope of personal gain that I offer this assistance, but rather in hope of being able to do something meaningful and necessary for the suffering Palestinian people via the advanced medium of Second Life.
Considering that your organization has begun the footwork for Palestinian rights in SL, I would prefer to work with this organization. However if your feelings regarding me are too much to look forward to this project than I may simply do so on my own. I do care about people, and about the horror of Palestine... and they should have some safe haven, even if it is virtual. A place free of violence, and ignorance.
I am hoping to help the people in league with the Saladin Center. Let us forget our hurts, and remember those who have lost far more than we can imagine. If you cannot cooperate with me still, that is fine. I will not bother you. But as I said, I may build this on my own anyway.
