This iReport is part of an assignment:
Finding romance on the road |
Against All Odds
Joseph and I met when we were juniors in college at Marymount University in VA 19 years ago.
We are both Singaporeans but our romance began in the US. After graduation we returned to Singapore. But to our dismay both of our parents refused to accept our relationship. Ours is an interracial marriage.
Despite the many years of painful struggles due to the non-acceptance of our relationship, the love between the two of us just grew deeper and deeper. As a result, we learnt to become less jugdemental, more compassionate, loving beings towards ourselves, to each other and to others.
We are still married to this day and we just returned to the US a few years ago. We realize true love does exist and it is here to stay if we give it a chance.
