Growing Up Garcia: Living the American Dream
Amelia Garcia Brooks Part 1
Amelia Garcia Brooks reminisces about growing up as a second-generation Mexican-American in San Antonio, Texas. Because she was bilingual, Amelia served as an interpreter early on for first-grade classmates who spoke only Spanish.
In subsequent iReports, Amelia and her daughter, Dr. Monica Garcia Brooks, tell other Garcia family stories, including those about La Carpa Garcia, the circus their family operated.
