This iReport is part of an assignment:
Do you haunt graveyards? |
The Crematorium...Pere Lachaise Cemetery
- tyson, CNN iReport producer
Paris...Cremation has been a tradition throughout history and exists in many cultures...This crematorium was built in 1883....sepulchres line the courtyard...
This crematorium was recently refitted to reduce air polllution to a minimum altho when in use smoke can be seen billowing from the two stacks...for me,...always disturbing to see..
The sepulchre of the American choreographer and ballet dancer Isadora Duncan is pictured in photo #4.
Carrying ashes to a grave-site photo #10.
Many have very strong opinions regarding this tradition...obviously, this post is not concerned with those issues..
